Berkshire Retreat

 

 

On a pastoral eighty acre site in the Berkshires, we have designed a family compound consisting of a large main house – organized around a rustic great hall – a carriage house with guest apartments, a caretaker's house, a barn for recreational facilities, a pool house and a secluded "think house" for quiet contemplation. The buildings, built of shingle, stone, and wood trim, are set asymmetrically across the site, linked by wandering farm roads, low stone walls and small paths..
