Cooper Point

On a prime waterfront site in Maryland's lovely Eastern Shore, we have designed a large family home with considerations of site, exposure and climate as leading determinants of the building's form. Given the hot and humid summers in the area, the plan maximizes air flow through the house, assisted by a thermal chimney: a tall void at the center of the house which draws hot air up and out of the building. Broad overhangs, tiled floors, careful solar siting and a state of the art geothermal mechanical system complete this advanced, environmentally sound design.
